Key Features of Carbodilite - Carbodiimide Crosslinking Agent
Excellent environmental profile – Designed for use in environmentally conscious coating and resin systems.
Long pot life – Provides a longer working time after mixing, supporting convenient processing and application.
Excellent reactivity with carboxylic acid groups – Efficiently reacts with carboxyl groups in resins to promote crosslinking and improve coating performance.
Room-temperature reactivity – Enables crosslinking at room temperature, helping simplify processing conditions.
Improved adhesion – Enhances adhesion between coatings, resins, and various substrates.
Maintains flexibility – Helps maintain the flexibility of the resulting coating or resin system after crosslinking.
Easy dispersion – Can be easily dispersed in suitable water-based resin systems.
Excellent hydrolysis resistance – Improves resistance to hydrolysis, particularly for resins containing ester bonds.
How Does Carbodilite Work?
Carbodilite is a carbodiimide-based crosslinking agent that improves the performance and durability of polymers and coatings.
The carbodiimide groups in Carbodilite react with carboxylic acid groups in the base resin (polymer) to form a three-dimensional crosslinked network. This crosslinking structure strengthens the polymer and improves its resistance to water and solvents.
As a result, Carbodilite can help enhance the water resistance, solvent resistance, and overall durability of various resin systems.

Usage Guidelines
Recommended Dosage: Approximately 3–7% CARBODILITE® solids based on the total formulation.
For Faster Crosslinking: Increase the curing temperature to accelerate the crosslinking reaction.
For Longer Pot Life: Increase the formulation pH using a suitable neutralizer, such as ammonia or amines.
Notes:
The crosslinking reaction does not proceed effectively when using metal hydroxide-based neutralizers.
Increasing the pH may not extend pot life when the formulation contains glycol-based solvents.
